 BOAT INSURANCE
According to the provisions of Spanish Royal Decree 607/1999 of 16th April, it is compulsory to take out civil liability insurance for anyone who has a recreational boat (registered within the 6th and 7th lists of the Spanish National Boat Register, corresponding to all motor-driven vessels, including jet skis, as well as any other vessel over 6 metres long). Foreign boats sailing in Spanish waters must also be covered by such insurance. This compulsory insurance must provide cover for indemnities that may need to be paid for damages caused by the boat to third parties. However, cover for damages to the boat itself and for occupants’ accidents, assistance/towing, theft, etc. can be offered as a complement. |
